Donna Alward

A little about me: While I was busy studying Austen, Eliot and Shakespeare for my degree in English Literature, I

was also gobbling up romances created by LaVyrle Spencer, Judith McNaught, and Nora Roberts.  My love of writing and romance came together in 2001, when I started writing with a goal of publication. In 2006 I sold my first manuscript (hooray!) and launched a career writing romantic fiction for publishers such as Samhain Publishing, Harlequin, and St. Martin’s Press. To date I have over 40 novels published in more than 16 languages.  That still blows my mind!

I spent over 4 years writing, learning, getting rejected, and writing some more. During that time I had some fabulous mentors who gave me advice, critiques, and yes, tough love. To pay it forward once I was published, I held a “Perfect Pitch” contest for several years.  I mentored the winner for a full year, including any and all work they sent me to critique, and I’m happy to report that every single winner has gone on to publish with a major publisher.  I’ve also given several workshops to writers groups and at conferences such as the Romance Writers of America Annual Conference and the New England RWA Chapter Conference, and I have written and continue to write articles for the Romance Writers Report.  I love working with other authors, and helping them find that place where their writing skills, individual voice and storytelling abilities all come together.

I’ve always valued my editors over the years and the insightful work they’ve done (and continue to do!)  to bring out the best in my writing. I’m thrilled to be able to do the same now as a content editor  and coach with The Red Pen Coach.

Penny Barber

Penny is a finicky word lover who finally found people who appreciate her compulsion to identify nonsense, highlight confusion, correct grammar, and clarify usage. Since she has a more productive outlet for her grammarian tendencies, her friends and family have resumed speaking in her presence, and even occasionally brave written communications. It’s a gift, a blessing, and a pleasure to help others communicate clearly and professionally with vivid words.

Corinne Demaagd

I’ve been working in the publishing industry since 2000 and have done my time in various roles: technical writer, technical editor, publishing coordinator, quality assurance, DTP, and project management.
For a short stint in Australia, I did grant writing and business development. While there, I started my freelance editing career and am happy to say I’m still going strong as a commercial fiction editor.

CURRENT

These days, I work as a freelance production editor for Lyrical Press/Kensington Publishing and freelance for indie authors. My roster includes both, and I give each my equal time and effort.
My strength lies in romance (all genres), but I also edit general fiction – YA, NA, suspense, science fiction, horror, you name it.

Denise Nicholls

Denise Nicholls

Denise grew up in a small town on Long Island where she spent many lazy afternoons with a good book. An avid reader, she would read at the beach, beneath a tree, anywhere she could find to curl up and lose herself in a story for a few hours. She loves reading as much now as she did back then, only now she enjoys the added pleasure of helping those stories evolve. Denise has worked as a proofreader and editor for several publishers, as well as doing freelance work. She is a published author, with novels in both children’s and adult genres.

Denise specializes in copy edits and must be booked by contacting Nancy Cassidy, based on availability.
